Rectsoft Reversi/Othello (Early 2006)
Old Software Archive
Towards the end of high school, I joined an online reversi community. I learned many techniques back then, but after a few months, there were only 1-2 users who kept defeating me, and no computer player could beat me anymore. I thought, "Why don’t I try to practice using BITBLT (manual WINAPI drawing functions) and create an opponent that can challenge me?" So I did. It didn’t exactly defeat me, but it imitated how I played, so if I made a wrong move, the computer could still win the game. When my friend tried to challenge me or learn my techniques, I suggested they play using this software, because it uses my techniques, essentially a duplicate of my style.
