Rectsoft Extension Maker (Nov 2002)

Old Software Archive

These days, we probably don’t give much thought to how operating systems know which software to run for a specific file type. Changing the default software with a simple right-click on Windows or Mac isn't difficult. But in the past, we had to create an installer that would associate the two or open RUN->regedit. It was challenging to modify or reset associations for unconventional extensions. That's why I developed this software to edit the registry entries using REGEDIT. It also allows for changing the icons that appear in Windows Explorer.
